ok so my buddy broke his 242 amc and we swaped in a 242j and now we only have 4 positions on the 242j cant find nutral. and when we find 4L and hook the likage up it wont go in to 2wd. it stops bewteen 4wpt and 4wft.

Is there somthing we missed thanks

 

Have you tried just moving the lever on the T-case?

to my knowledge theyre the same. the shifter can be a ***** on swapped 242s.
