231 shift linkage

Default 231 shift linkage

what position should the lever bolted to the side of the tc be for 2h. plate up and all the way to the back or down and forward? pics would help

I "think" theres only one way to bolt that bracket on. I believe it's "keyed" to only fit in 1 position?

If noone else can grab you a pic i'll try to get one on the spare 231 i have in garage. I need batteries or i'd do it now.


EDIT... i reread your post. Sounds like you rotate 180* and get the two positions you asked about. I believe the lever swings along the bottom.

yeah i need to know if it should be on the bottom or the top. yes you got the idea, just a pic of the lever in 2h would be nice so i know i got it.

Default 1997 Grand Cherokee Problem

I just had the motor replaced in my Jeep and it had a few problems with it. like metal in the valves from my last motor. i cleaned that out and it starts and runs fine now. but the PROBLEM NOW is
Every time i start it and try to put it in Reverse it dies out, same with 1,2 gear. also wont go into Drive. and When i Got going downt he road. it was craving power and wouldnt do anything when i gave it more gas and was running a lil rough.
Does anybody have some suggestions i could try or check with my Jeep?
