I'm about to pull the 231 out of my 1993 5speed.
I have a 231 out of an 1998 automatic, will it mount fine?
Both should have the same spline count, even tho one has a cone on the back. But will the mounting holes be the same being that one came from an auto and one from a manual? I guess I could switch the back halfs of the case if I had to?

The bolt pattern attaching the TC to the tranny should be indentical. I believe the only problem you might have is the shorter output on the 98 TC. Just know along with the tailcone being shorter on the 98 TC, the output shaft is shorter as well.
