is 210 degrees average for xj 4.0 87 ? sometimes it will ride alittle up past that but stays mostly 210 .

 

210 is normal anything past that I would worry... Something in your cooling system is not working correctly...

 

X2 210 is normal but the e fan doesnt kick on tell 217 as long as your fan is working u should be good

Thats at the upper end mine run 195 since 195 thermostat , hows you fan clutch i only get around 200 with ac off. While creeping around in swamp.

Anyway op check your hoses make sure you do not have any bubbles or cracks Check the fan clutch as stated... When does it run above 210?

 

Fan clutch seems to be fine . It runs 210 driving most of the time on trails it goes to 210 to 220 then fluctuates between the 2. Hoses are fine have high out put e fan , no ac.

 

It goes to 220 then fan kicks on mine does it all the time but i belive you have the closed cooling system so make sure its bleed of air
