2001 xj np231 to 1999 wj np242?
well after finding out that my transfer case has been running dry for at least 6k miles and leaks like crazy from between the 2 halves I'm looking at my options. for something around $350 i can get my np231 rebuilt or for 200 i can get a used np242 from a 99 wj so i was wondering what would be a better choice or if its even possible to use the wj transfer case on my 2001 xj?
This is the transfer case i'm looking at

In baltimore I would go for the 242. THe part time 4wd was great when I lived in Ky and I am sure it would be great in Maryland also.
But you can find them in JY's for a lot cheaper. Heck I bet you can find them on local forums with people parting out there stuff. 100 bucks sounds like the most I would try and pay for one.
