Default 2001 XJ - Header options

Ok guys,

I'm finally going to put on a header cause I need a new gasket. I was looking at a pacesetter w/downpipe but couldn't find one for a 2001.

You guys have any suggestions were I can increase performance and fuel economy. I have a cold air intake and magnaflow exhaust currently.

Thanks

The only thing I know of that improves fuel economy on these is to keep the RPMs down under 2.

I have low expectations for fuel economy. I just want a good header.

Hooker is about the best. Make sure you wrap them though. It dissipates the heat

How come I'm having a hard time finding a header for an 2001 XJ? All the ones I can find are spec'd up to 99. What's the difference between those years?

In "part outs" there is a guy with a aftermarket header for less than $100.

Banks all the way thats what im running. The 00-01 models have the extra cats after the manifold so thats why older model headers will not work. I would stay away from pace setter. Highly recommend banks, its built to last and worth the $$

Did you have any fitting problems with your Banks or did they bolt right on? Any mods needed? I have been looking at Banks...they are just more than what I can afford.

What about Rugged Ridge? I've been looking at these...it says it fits an 00-01 XJ. I've other places where they say it only fits the Wrangler.

Yea idk know about the rugged ridge. More than likely chinese made. Its up to you. Banks gives you a lifetime warranty, rugged ridge is 3 year. It would appear that they are both the same style headers. But im willing to bet the banks welds are alot cleaner / stronger. Installing the header is a pretty big job though regardless of what brand u buy. I will say that i wouldn't ever want to have to replace a header twice so i would do it right the 1st time lol. Trust me ive had to replace so many poor quality parts on my jeep its ridiculous. (Steering, suspension, exhaust etc.)
