ok have no clue where to start. have 1/2 tank of gas, started and drove fine this morning. started fine this afternoon. accelerated from a stop light and it stalled. can't get it to start and the check engine did not come on. fuel pump sound like it comes on when I turn the key to acc. have gas at the valve on the fuel bar. checked fuses and swapped out fuel pump relay. going to get it home but need to start somewhere on troubleshooting.

 

Crankshaft position sensor is a likely candidate, but it could also be a sudden loss of a major ground. Address all of your major grounds. Don't just eyeball them. Remove them, clean them, and reinstall them.
I think yours has the coil pack ignition instead of distributor and wires. My '02 TJ did something similar and it turned out that the coil pack assembly took a crap and I had to replace it. About $229 at O'Reilly.

If you narrow it down to the CPS, do yourself a HUGE favor and DO NOT BUY A REPLACEMENT FROM ANYWHERE BUT THE DEALERSHIP. Yes, it will be $25-$45 more, but aftermarket CPS unit have a very high "dead out of the box" reputation. I learned that first hand before seeing all of the posts on here about it.

 

Ok, the stupid thing started this morning! still a CPS issue or move on to something else?

 

Could still be the cps mine started out like that when it gets hot it would crap out till it cooled off,don't rule it out yet
