Default 2001 Cherokee sport heat

Well I do have heat, but it sure seems to take a bit to get the cabin warm. Is there a good way to tell if it is the actual blend door issue or maybe the blend door actuator isn't moving the door all the way? Also it seems like when I change the heat from defrost/floor to cab there still seems to be alot of heat to the floor. Is this normal?

I don't really have to replace the blend door if I don't have to since it sounds like a pain!

The blend door controls the temperature and the mode switch controls where it goes. The blend door is actuated by an electrical stepper motor and the mode switch is vacuum controlled. If it's not coming out of the proper ducts, look at the vacuum portion of the control system. Without any vacuum source, defrost is the default setting. Check for vacuum leaks at the mode switch (valve) hose plug or any actuator diaphragm pot. Also the supply hose coming thru the firewall, the "T" fitting in the engine compartment, and cruise control (if equipt), or vacuum accumulator (Ball tank under the front bumper). It could be the pot that closes off the floor duct is ruptured or the hose is leaking.

Hmm, I was thinking that maybe the pot that closes off the floor vents might have an issue. I will have to pull the radio and see if I can see it and check it out. I would imagine that if the floor vent isn't being closed off properly, that might be the entire issue. The heat to the floor seems to keep my feet relatively toasty. Is there a diagram somewhere that shows the placement of the pots so I can figure out what I am looking for?

Thanks for the information.
