Default 2001 Cherokee sport grinding in the front end...

Hey guys first post here plus compleatly new to jeeps, so bare with me... I have a stock 01 sport with around 110,000 miles. I was out two weeks ago tooling around in 4H and after dropping back down to 2 wheel drive I'm getting a whiney grinding noise from right under my drivers seat. Its only when the tires really start spinning like in sand and what not. Also doing it on me today when I was out... idk if its not coming all the way out of 4x4, it doesn't feel as if the front wheels have power idk... plus I've been getting death woble around 50mph lately aslo idk if that has anything to do with it to maybe. Please advise. Thanks guys.

The grinding in mine was from the transfer case (I think the chain was slipping).

It might not be out of 4wd yet, I have a 2001 and it does this sometimes. I have to drive backwards after I take it out of 4wd then hit the brakes to make sure it is out of 4wd. What is the level of the transfer case fluid? Top it off if it is low and see what happens.

I just checked my linkage to make sure nothing was binding up there and keeping it half in 4H, everything looks good. Fluid is full also. I cant figure this out, im kinda avoiding opening up my t case also... haha what may have to happen. It grinds everytime i climb a hill in 2H or in some deep sand or mud... IDK

Also now that I think about it the chain shouldn't be under load when in 2H right? So how would it be slipping...
