Default 2001 a/c compressor bearing

So the bearing for my a/c compressor is going and I was wondering if I could just replace the bearing without replacing the whole compressor since they are ridiculously expensive. Just a little info it's on a 2001 and the PO had a remanufactured compressor installed for unknown reasons

Are sure you don't mean the A/C clutch bearing? If the bearings in the compressor failed, it's toast, and the system is contaminated.

Ya thanks that's what I meant, the part the the belt actually drives on the pully, that's the part that squeals whenever the a/c is first started
