Default 2000 XJ transfer case linkage removal question

I have recently replaced my factory 4.0 engine @ 197,000 miles witha remanufactured 4.0 ,do to to burnt bearings all steming back to a bad water pumped (that i should have replaced about a 100k ago), anyway the pump fines were so eat up that it didn't serculate enough, and caused the head to crack thus leading to antifreeze getting down onto my bearings. all of this said my word of advise is to change you water pump often, anyway after getting the new motor in I didn't get the tranmission coolant sending line hooked up to the radiator, it has like that kinda quick disconnect fitting, i drove it around for like 2 days and that line popped of i lost all my fluid, after changing it out the next day, it starts leaking really bad out of the bell, so i am lead to beleive that it's my front main seal in the tranny, so i am in the prosess of droping the tranny and replacing the seal, i have everything done except the transfer case linkage and i am wondering on how to remove it, i think my options are taking the whole linkage off of the body meaning to unbolt it from inside of the cab or take the linkage apart and risk breaking something on it, any insite on this would be greatly appreciated ,

when I remove the t-case, I pop the long ~12" rod off first, then remove the 6 bolts holding t-case to tranny. The t-case linkage is between the tranny and body. When I drop the tranny, lower it slowly, you can just pull the linkage pivot out of the side of the tranny. Laave the stuff on the body. I assume thats how it still is on a 2000, I guess I never looked at my 99. I've done it too many times on 95, 91 and 90 XJs.

Botak, I removed those four bolts, but the linkage is still connected to the tcase and the shifter. The only way I can remove that linkage is by breaking a bushing. I'm sure I'm missing something, but I really can't figure it out. That's the last thing holding up my tranny before I can drop it

dropped the crossmember I just don't want to screw up the plastic bushings but I guess I'll just start pulling hard on the bushings and see where that gets me.

One you loosen the 4 bolts, the bracket should come off.

Thank you botak! I have already removed that bracket however, now the linkage is still connected from the case to the shifter. The only joints are plastic bushings except for the bolt that is used to adjust the linkage position. I tried to break the linkage around the adjustment bolt but it is designed not to slide off. Do you seperate the linkage by pulling the bars and they are just supposed to pop off, or am I missing something completely? Sorry I sound like a broken record, but I really don't want to screw this up and then spend another week scrounging junkyards for linkage that isn't messed up like I know a lot of them are. Thank you for your help!

if you get it like the pic botak posted, you should be able to pop the pivot shaft out of the tranny bushing (push down in his pic)
