1999 XJ: squeaking noise when turning
Hey folks,
after I have taken my 1999 XJ (3" lift) offroad (nothing severe) last weekend it started to have this squeaking noise when I am turning to the right or left. It is not a constant grinding or squeaking noise but a wavering high and not very loud squeaking. So I guess it has something to do with the wheel rotation. With higher speeds it disappears (or I cannot hear it anymore due to wind noise). It also stops if I have more than app. 180 degrees of steering wheel angle.
Do you know what that could be? It is strange that there is the same squeaking noise (either left or right turn) and that this noise occured the first time after my little offroad trip. Do you think the drive shafts could cause that?
Thanks!!

Id check the power steering system and the steering stabalizer, if the stabalizer was bad/busted itd leak off and cause a squeak when turning, the powersteering fluid could be low, line busted, pump going out, belt slipping on the pump.... all of these could likely cause squeaking when turing either direction... you couldve damaged something on your trip, could be mudded up under the hood... and i doubt very seriously the drive shafts would cause a squeak, if it were a driveshaft it'd likely be more of a clunk and not a squeak
