Default 2000 XJ junction box fuse numbers

Guys, I have a XJ Sport 4-door and have a parasitic draw on fuse 16 (IOD) in the PDC. My FSM tells me that feeds the junction box, but not which fuses it feeds. I need to know what fuse feeds what function, like radio, interior lights, etc. The box cover is no help whatsoever. All it has is a block of squares with tiny pimples on it. I have a printout of the fuse numbers, but what each one does is a mystery. The FSM gives me circuit numbers, but that's not much help either. Does someone please have a printout that I can understand.

Here's the problem. The battery will go dead if the jeep is left for more than 2 days. My meter doesn't do amps, so I was using voltage drop across each fuse. Fuse 27 (10 amp) was pulling 0.1 mV and fuse 16 (IOD) (15 amp) was pulling 0.9 mV. I locked the doors up and waited 30 minutes and fuse 27 went to 0. No change on fuse 16. I got back in and fired it up because I had given up for now. I shut it off and sat there contemplating what to do when I heard a buzzing from the back. I think it was coming from one of the overhead speakers. I pulled fuse 16 and it stopped. Then I came to you guys. Any Ideas? BTW, the radio works for about 5 seconds.

Thats out of the FSM for my 97 as i dont have anything for a 2000, but that should atleast get the ball rolling for you. I dont see why there would be that much of a difference between the two. ???

Will this help Dave?

Also just because..

When my 2000 had a draw..it ended up being the hood light(hood closed)..even tho it didnt light up when open lol.. it would slowly leak the power away over a few days.

Thank you gentlemen! I knew I could count on you! fb97xj1, now I know where S135 and S347 are! I probably have that in my FSM, but I was so confused I couldn't see it. Duma! I printed and saved that whole article! The list of fuse functions was exactly what I needed. Now I can pull fuses circuit by circuit and know what I eliminated. Funny you should mention the underhood light! That was the first thing I unplugged when I started this fishing trip.

This XJ doesn't have a Skim, ABS, or overhead console. From the buzzing in the back, I'm thinking the radio amplifier is still on. The rear seat is still folded down and there's a crapload of road salt on the cargo floor. I have to vacuum that out and crawl in to release the rear hatch because THAT doesn't open. It's been raining here for the past 4 days and that salt is beginning to draw moisture. I just installed an upgraded headlight harness today and found the sealed Wagner 6054 bulbs are full of water and the reflective coating on the back is mostly gone! The battery is way too big physically to fit the box and was interfering with everything! It's a NAPA Legend 865 CCA.

Good deal..glad to help.

LOL and yep..when it comes to a draw on the xj I usually check to see if the hood light is the issue or like my 95,,, the glove box light.. it seems those are the ones that cause issues more often.. Oh and door light switches also.

Hope you get it..

I took it down to Battery World today to get that battery checked. It was sold in 2013 and is for a big diesel pickup! It was also dying, about 1/2 shot. I got a nice new 625 CCA that fits nicely. Now to find a battery hold-down strap. BTW, that battery wasn't even touching the temp sensor either.

I bought 2 gallons of Shell Rottela T6 5W-40 that I'm going to use in this one. I couldn't find quarts so I'll have to measure a quart for the fill. I also bought a pair of Sylvania Silver Star 6054's to start with. They are 55/55 watts, but it's a start. Supposedly they are Xenon filled which should help.
