Default 2000 XJ axle questions

my seals are leaking pretty much everywhere on the Dana 35 (I believe) axles. I don't know what to do, I am planning on installing a 4"ish lift under my XJ. The finished product will be a daily driver/hunting vehicle. Should I rebuild the axles i have and upgrade the shafts? Or should I look into a stronger axle, with maybe better pinon angles? This is not my first build i had a lifted f-150. though the options for upgrades were not a great as they are for jeeps. Thanks

This should help. The two top pictures are rear axles available in your year.

if your not looking at spending alot i would just replace the seals. Its cheap and not to hard. You can rent all the tools from Checker auto ( Oriely ). If your looking to upgrade and have acsess to a welder i would recommend the Ford 8.8. You can pick them up at junk yards for under $200. Look for a 95 or 96 ford explorer. They have 31 spline and disc breaks. I think the gear ratio in them are 3.53's You would have to do a little research on the ratios.
The Ford 8.8 is one of the best upgrades i have done.
