2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport Reverse Problem

2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport Reverse Problem
I am having a problem with my transmission going into reverse. All the other gears work but when I try reverse it doesn't go. When i Put it it goes into reverse it goes forward a little bit then stops. Anyone have advice that could possibly help. It is very urgent. Please help.
