Default 2000 cherokee wont start

I looked all over and can't seem to find an answer, my jeep just keeps cranking and cranking but won't start, when it did start it would run just fine but once i shut it off it won't restart, this happened like three times and now I can't get it to start at all, two months ago I replaced the crank position sensor, I can hear the fuel pump kicking on and I am getting fuel into the rail. I must be getting spark because when I spray starting fluid into the throttle body she sputters. Injectors not firing?

when it does start how does it run? There are really only 3 things that will cause a no start. No compression, No Spark or No Fuel ... So I would do a Compression Test, Check for Spark and make sure your getting Fuel Pressure before you do anything else. Also hook it up to a scanner.. see if its has any codes.

When it starts it runs just fine, idles normal. I have a scanner but the jeep isn't throwing any codes, i replaced the cps sensor already.

The "camshaft position sensor" is a primary suspect. When they are intermittently bad (heat related failure is possible here) but the engine is already running, it will use an old data cam sensor data point and the engine will run fine until it is shut off, but then may not start again.

The cam sensor on your 2000 is where the distributor used to be on older models.
