I too have been looking into this since discovering that my electric fan is fubar. It seems that the universal ones, like the dorman 6 blade, are pretty much the same as the renix era fans and require an adapter for the electrical plug as they changed it in 96. Many listings will specify 96-01 and I assume that they come with the right connector. Many people complain about buying the dorman and not getting the adapter with it.
