Well I just checked my fan. It does not stick out as far as yours. And I discovered that is does not turn either. Its rubbing on something and scrapes all the way around. Oh, well, another project. But it does not stick out as far as yours. I can fit my hand in the space between it and the ps pump. I dont know if being stuck has anything to do with it though.

By looking at your photos it looks like someone was busy working on a possible overheat problem.

Looks like a replacement electic fan (new mount screw visible) that is the wrong one.

Looks like an aftermarket radiator.

Looks like someone spliced in the lower transmission cooler hose.

Is the head new?

On my '99, the back of the fan is flush with the back edge of the fan shroud.

What did you do with the old fan? Does it look like the one in the pic?

You may have to hit up the junk yard to find the proper fan.

RockAuto has a fair selection...you can get new for about 50 bucks + shipping.

That's definitely the wrong fan in there. I can very easily put my hand between my fan and pullies (2000 also). My fan also does not come out past the shroud.
