2000 cherokee still vibrating
So I made a post a while back about my stock 2000 cherokee vibrating... since then I've put new hubs on it, new axle u joints, and new tires that are balanced..... the vibration is very odd, seems to be patchy... what I mean by this is it comes on at certain speeds, and goes away at certain speeds.... vibrates from 50-60, but is smooth as glass from 60-70, past 70 and it vibrates while droning in the cab.... my next guess is getting new driveshaft u joints along with having them balanced.... any suggestions are welcome!
I just finished the new driveshaft u joint, seemed to help a little, still vibrates though... I noticed my driveshaft is bare and has no weights... should it have stick on weights for balance, or is it internally balanced

Well, it could have had the weights on their, but came off? I think one of mine had come off (going by a little rectangular color difference on the driveshaft), didnt even know they were there. Dont think they are so much 'internally' balanced...

I've been chasing the same type vibration on my recently purchased money pit '97 Grand Cherokee for 2 weeks. I'm trying to fix this one up for a DD for my daughter.
Without writing a novel about what I've been through, the drive shaft shop determined today that the front shaft is bent. They are going to straighten it and electronic balance the front shaft.
I have previously changed all 5 U-joints, starting with the rears. Front shaft has been out twice now, at two different places. This is the third time it has been worked on.
I'll update everyone tonight when I get this thing back together and drive it home.
Here's the update: Drive line shop cut the yokes and slip joint away from the bent shaft. They built a new shaft, welded the other pieces on it, and electronically balanced it. Smooth as glass now, can't even tell I have a front shaft--I drove it around without the shaft installed earlier when the original was being worked on. The guy did a great job.
