2000 Cherokee Engine Issues
Update 3-7-12:
So I take off the cover and I'm inspecting everything and low and behold I discovered my jeep's rod is Houdini. The picture speaks for itself.

Not picture: rod.

That may explain the clunking noise. I'm interested to see where this push rod went, as stated the lifter is below the push rod, and the cam is below the lifter.

we are kind of confused also because the lifter went down and we put a magnet in there trying to jiggle it around and it came up a little so we have no clue whats going on

lifter could of colapsed letting push tube fall or push tube broke gotta remove head might as well check cam lobe replace all lifters and push tube as long as cam lobes not worn off

This update is way overdue! So it's been about 3 weeks that my baby has been up and running again. Great deal having to do with Unleashed helping out.
Based on the symptoms engine had shown before with oil pressure being low/ possibly inaccurate, coolant loss, and cylinder misfire we decided the way to go was to replace the engine. We replaced it with a 96' engine and had to do a few other things to make sure it worked. Long story short, she's running strong, and when idling oil pressure is between 40-50 psi, and at 50 psi while driving. Gotta say I'm pretty happy. I'll try to do some sort of write up when I get the chance. Possibly get my build thread started.
