Default 2000 Cherokee crank but no start

Purchased a 2000 Cherokee Sport several months ago just to have an extra daily driver as all my other vehicles are company work trucks. It had 185,000 miles but is in excellent condition. The one issue I noticed as soon as it rained was that after a rain the electric door locks don't operate when you push the lever. Now an even bigger issue has happened in just the last day. I drove it and returned to the house and it remained parked over night. Yesterday morning I went out and needed to move it and it cranked but would not start. I didn't hve time to mes with it so I left it sit. Today I did check a few things that I knew to check including the fuel pump relay, the ASD relay, fuses etc. I tried starting fluid and it just hiccupped slightly and did not start. I also checked the schrader on the fuel rail and there was good pressure in the rail. To be sure, I am not at all familiar with Jeeps as this is my first. The only other components I am aware of are the coils, cam position sensor and crank position sensor. FYI, there had been absolutely no stumbling stalling or hesitation of any sort while driving it prior to this issue. It ran very well and very smoothly. I do not know what to check or how to check the sensors though I do know exactly where they are located on the engine. Anyone experienced with same issue and have any idea as to most likely cause? Thank you.

Thanks for the reply and info. I notice that when the key is turned to ON position, I do not hear the fuel pump running. Do the fuel pumps in these vehicles usually make sound that one can actually hear when energized? The pressure at the schrader valve on the fuel rail seems quite good when depressing the valve but I also know that is not the surest way to check. It did not start with a heavy shot of starting fluid either. Even though there had been no previous stalling or hesitation/stumbling while driving it, it did several times take 5-6 seconds when cranking to finally start and then finally 2 days ago it would not start but does crank. I am a licensed electrician so while I don't know much about Jeeps or these ignitions, I do understand that there are proper test procedures to follow just as in what I do for a living but I don't know what they are for the Crank PS, Cam PS , fuel pump etc. I refuse to just hang parts on anything until it works so don't want to go down that path here either.

I just had someone else turn the key to the ON position while I was at the back of the Jeep and I can hear the fuel pump kick on for about 2 seconds then no sound after that.
