2000 Cherokee
I have a 2000 Cherokee Sport 4.0 that started having a problem about three weeks ago. While driving, it sputtered like no fuel was getting to the engine. Even with the pedal pressed to the floor, nothing. After stopping, the engine would rev fine. It has gotten progressively worse since the first occurrence. Now it barely goes a mile without having the problem occur.
I changed out the crankshaft position sensor hoping that would be the cure. Still the same problem. Would a bad fuel pump be the cause of my problem?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Robert

Even with the pedal pressed to the floor, nothing. I have to pull to the side of the road put it in park and wait a few minutes. After stopping it revs fine and I am able to drive again, only to have the problem start again. It has gotten progressively worse since the first occurrence. Now it will barely go a mile without having the problem occur.
I changed out the crankshaft position sensor hoping this would take care or the problem with no luck.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a fuel pressure problem. Go rent a tester from AutoZone and hook it up to the schrader valve on the fuel rail, start 'er up and see what numbers you get.
