I haven't bought anything yet. Still shopping and ebay is on my list of available resources. I am comparing reviews right now and just asking opinions so I have not ignored your advice at all.

Ok just checking. You seemed to get excited about that pretty black XJ up there lol. Mine is a just a toy and was hauled out of some dude's yard. Mine has a cheap lift just to accommodate larger tires for now but it seems to be a quality poly spacer kit. Really any shackles will work if they will fit on the leaf springs and up in the pocket where the shackle mounts to the frame. It is a rather simple procedure. You have to lose your tailpipe or have it rebent to go around the lift shackle

hey hey hey lol im new to this, i just turned 18 and i have decided jeeps are my life (dont tell my girlfriend) i knew where the throttle body was but i diddnt have any clue how to clean it and such, at least i am willing to learn by doing insted of making my xj a shop hound who goes in to a mechanic every time the oil needs changed, i believe there are some guys on here who take their jeep to a shop for everything and just take the credit for the install, im learning step by step, and the lesson the lift teaches is that 3 hours of shop work is not cheap and that i dont like shops anymore because they take your money away

Well I gotta give you credit for trying to learn. That's how I did it and now I make the big bucks and never went to any mechanical school or vo-tech. I'd hit up a salvage yard with a lot of jeeps. I did a lot of learning at those places

I am getting a new exhaust. That is the only rust on my whole Jeep. From the exhaust manifold to the tail pipe is all rusted.

The other thing I am concerned about is that I want this lift to work when I add 3" springs later on. Also, this is a pretty nice Jeep and is my only transportation so what ever goes in it needs to be quality. I drive about 150 to 250 miles a week for my job and need this thing to be strong enough to make it through the week on the highway then hit the trails on the weekend.

I drive 400 miles a week and drive this toy. My DD gets worse gas mileage than my Jeep so it's stupid not to. Most bigger lift kits come with lift shackles to help with pinion angles. If you're going to lift the thing without a T case lowering kit or a SYE, putting shackles on is the only way to go to keep your driveline happy

That is actually exactly why I started this thread. I want 2" to clear my new tires and allow me to really use the Jeep and see what needs to be fixed or upgraded before I go higher. I have plans for an SYE and a Tom Woods drive shaft but I can't do the shaft until I know exactly how long it needs to be. So I am getting a 1" dropped crossmember.

Well just FYI, unless you plan on making a full blown rock crawler with huge tires, I'd stick to a 3 or 4in lift to keep it from getting too top heavy. I crammed 33s under mine with NO LIFT but you see I have some seriously trimmed fenders

Def not going huge. 31" tires max. I want to keep the ride as close to stock as possible. That is why I was looking at the relocation brackets. You can get an additional 1.5" with them and they correct the angle of the shackle. Then some ZJ V8 springs and I got 3" and should have a ride close to stock. But, this is just me thinking out loud, I could be completely wrong about all of it.

Sounds like a decent start anyways. I'd do a 4 inch long arm kit myself but I like smooth rides
