Default 2 Quick Questions

1) A friend told me that his mechanic said that ******* your vehicle occasionally makes it lat longer.. something about letting the engine do what it was meant to do and make sure it burns the carbon up.. Is this true?

2) My '91 XJ just started doin some wierd turn signal stuff. When I put my turn signal on, the little arrow will either stay solid green, or flash regular, or flash faster, or even just flash slower.. Any ideas?

do you have any burnt out bulbs?
when the arrow stays solid it means a bulb is out or you have a bad connection somewhere.

Well, I suppose I shoulda gotten out and checked the signals in the first place.. I thought it was a bad wire to the actually dash arrows. Would bad bulbs cause this strange flashing? And I am leaning towards agreeing if it does, wouldn't suprise me. I replaced my brake lights 1 week ago, replaced my reverse lights 3 days ago, and now I guess the signal lights wanna join them lol.

What do you mean by *******? if you mean taking it out on the highway and getting it up to speed that's always better then putting around in city traffic. Back in the days of Carb's you would always want to drive the vehicle for at least 15 to 20 minute's so that the engine could "clean itself up" after start-up. That's not idling at a standstill but actual acceleration.
As for blinker the circuit is telling you something is wrong, most likely a burnt out bulb.

When I say *******, I mean totally pushin the engine to due its best. Gettin up to speed as quick as possible, but not flying into the 7K rpm range on the tach. Basically, push the engine to perform, but not explode

Not shure what you mean by "*******" sounds like bogging the motor which will cause carbon build up. But if you mean running it hard once in a while OK. High rev for a sustained periord, could help reduce carbon, but with todays computer controlled motors, not so much as in the past.

First put the blinker on and see if the front and rear are flashing do both sides and the emerg flashers, if ones not working thats it, if they are all working then I'd check each light bulb on the side thats flashing quickly and make sure all the elements in the bulbs look good.

change your blinker bulbs and go for a good drive going through all gears and different speeds give it a little workout

Well, I went to AutoZone to check and get some bulbs.. told th guy there (I know him, and he knows his stuff) about my delimma. First off, all turn sig lights work, but the blinking doesn't. The guy at A/Z told me its this thing under my dash.. I cant remember what it was called, but it is either 3-prong or 2-prong. My prob was that I had no idea where it was, looked under the dash on both sides of the steering column.. Does anyone know what this is? Where is it? A pic would be awesome if someone could. Thanks guys.

This is the one they had at autozone.. it looks diff than the one in the above pic, however the discription on the a/z website said it is build to run on electromegnetism insted of thermo switch.. Im thinking its the right thing
