How important are they? I tried to take them out yesterday to clean them and they both broke.(had no idea what i was doing)

Engine seems to idle better though

Should I be worried or just wait till i find some at the j/y?

Thanks

Rich

Its probably your PCV valve. You want to replace those as soon as possible. It affects the vacuum, if your jeep seems to idle better, your valve may have been stopped up and needed a new one anyways. You might aswell go to the parts tore and get a new one, junkyard ones will probably be brittle and break anyways.

its a ccv constant crankcase ventilation. If you ask for a pcv valve you won't get the right one. It's constant vacuum through a metered orfice on the vacuum side. Ask for the ccv elbow

No I'm pretty sure autozone has em.... they are special order. I would get a ccv elbow at rockauto.com myself.

More than likely its a CCV and NOT a PCV (most of our Jeeps have CCV and not PCV). Call around, they arent too hard to find, nor are they too expensive.

This is a topic that is beat to death when it comes up.

The front... I just used an elbow and grommet for a Ford plus heater hose out of the help section.

Auto Zone lists them but most stores don't stock them. Advance usually does stock them however. It is a Dorman #47057. They also sell the grommets which are Dorman #42344s.

HOWEVER - that is ONLY the rear. Since the system is a CCV system it uses an orifice in the rear elbow instead of an actual valve.

The front is JUST an elbow and is dealer only. What I ended up doing was getting 2 of the Dormans and pulled the orifice restrictor out of one of them and used that in the front. It is a bit tough to grab but it is only snapped in.

O'Reilley's has them hanging (the rear one, listed as a "PCV elbow") out on the shelves.

That is how they are listed at Advance and Auto Zone as well.

If you look at the bottom of one you will see the metering orifice.

The front one doesn't have that.
