Default 2 door offroading

hello i am looking to find my first xj. im mainly looking at four doors but i found a nice 2 door. are there any issues taking these off roading. it seems like the unibody would be weaker because it dosent have the doors in the back as extra support. is this an issue? thank you.

It's not an issue.

The two doors do seem to be more succeptible to unibody fatigue, but really it's not a big difference. This is *not* because of the lack of rear doors, but rather the lack of the support column that would otherwise divide the two doors. The doors provide no structural support.

If you take a two-door offroad, it will collapse and the unibody will fold in half. Just get a four-door.

funny but ultimately not helpfull to a guy with X amount of posts just asking a honest question.

no worries on a 2 door body brother. wheel it good. wheel it hard. and tread lightly.

You shouldn't have any other problems that you can have with the 4 door. No matter how many doors you have if you over abuse any vehicle you can do damage even if it isn't a uni body. I know that I have seen people bed the frames on trucks just by running them to hard. I do know that several people would rather have a 2 door then the 4 door me included. But the are a bit harder to come across and when you do see the 2 door models most people don't want to let them go.

You're not wrong: they're theoretically weaker, due to having one fewer pillar. But in the real world, the "weakest link" isn't the pillars, anyway: you're going to break an awful lot of other things before you twist the frame in any direction that the pillars would help you with. By the time you're doing that kind of damage, you've got much bigger problems.

Lots of people here - myself included - have wheeled 2-doors without breaking them. Get the number of doors you want.

We have a few members with 2 doors that wheel the snot out of and still are fine besides trail rash aka dents and scratches.2 door or 4 door just depends the owner nothing else really.I like the 2 doors better but can't find one here cheap that's not a pile of junk.

just my 2 cents, but I drove a 2 door for awhile, and noticed a bit of a dip over time.
paint flaked in some spots near its midpoint and the doors fit funny. I really love the 2 door xj for its great looking design, But if your looking for structural integrity GO 4 DOOR.

who wants to rip all their mods off a "totaled" jeep because you bent it in half wheeling. do it right THE FIRST TIME.

2 doors are fine. I personally wouldnt buy a 4 door, 2 doors are a lot cooler.
