RTV=Room Temperature Vulcanizing
It is silicone that cures/hardens at room temp with high temperature resistance, acid/alkali-resistance and ageing resistance.
Transmission fluid change would be most wisely done with a filter change as well.
Do not be tempted to power flush a trans. As there is a high risk of forcing solids into passages, blocking them and burning up the trans.
If the trans fluid is dark and smells strong soon after changing the fluid and filter, repeat the change at the next 2-3 oil change intervals.
Also remember to check your rear diff to determine if you need additive.
Or you can use gear oil with the additive already in it .

If u want it to run cool like new, u need new cooling system parts, no????? Unless the coolant level was very low, some other parts/components of the cooling system probably caused it to overheat. A new cooling system runs +/-$250 including the radiator (the heart of the cooling system).

Really though, you should try to tackle these fluid changes. The diffs and T-case are a cinch, tranny I haven't done yet but I don't think it would be too bad.
As far as what fluids to get...that's a whole different debate. What you should look at doing, however, is buying your fluids on Advance Auto Parts' website, because they ALWAYS have good coupons. I got full synthetic Mobil 1 75W-90 for the front and 75W-140 for the back...thicker in the back since that's where most of the work/heat comes from.

Alright guys, thanks for all the help and responses. I'm gunna purchase everything thru advance auto's website, like stated above, because they have some really good savings codes. I'll post here if I have any more questions, just need a day off from work to really plan everything out and do this the right way.

It's a sealant/adhesive.
If you want to make an easy job even easier, invest in a pair of these.

I did RTV on my front and it worked fine, but I got a LubeLocker for my rear and it took a lot of worry out of having a leak if I had used RTV.

If your low on coolant you are leaking some where. Take a good look on the radiator, especially on the side with the battery. They tend to rot out there.
As far as brake fluid, maybe you all should do a little research on it. Replacing brake fluid is very important, especially in older vehicals. Brake fluid collect moisture very easily. It will rot lines and seals out from the inside out.
