2.8 wont start
More issues with my 2.8l cherokee. Took the carb off and replaced the guts as well as the gaskets, and now that i put it back together, I can't get it to start. I felt like maybe it needed a shot of starting fluid seeing as it sat a day and a night in cold temps. So, i give it a shot and turn it over and then flames come out the carb and a small fire occurs. For reasons i cannot explain i decided to try again with gasoline in the carb and got similar results. I can turn it over all day and get nothing, but as soon as i add starting fluid i end up with flame out the carb. Any ideas...?
i'll check the timing, but i have just recently timed it in accordance with the factory sticker under the hood at 10 degrees. As far as getting a 4.0.... good advice. I've had nothing but trouble with this motor
so, as a follow up - running like a champ now. turns out, i had the firing order all mixed up.... carb job was done well and going strong. For anyone with this motor, i would like to point out that the chilton firing order was incorrect, which is no surprise i guess. anyways, thanks to all that responded.
