Well, I'm relieved that that's all it was.

Where did you get the part?

Pepboys, I won't be going back and wouldn't recommend them to anyone. They gave me bad advice and ordered the wrong part multiple times. Finally ended up going to NAPA, they knew what they were talking about and got me the part in a few hours.

Default Over heating.

I had the same problem parked the 83 Jeep Cherokee for a month or so as I replaced alternator power steering pump rear brakes cooling system and I suspected after all my overheating and new thermostat that I had a water pump for a CJ where the blades are going the wrong direction.
sure enough that's what this gentleman's problem was and I replaced my water pump and it began overheating so it must be what my problem is cuz there's no water and oil or any other problem.
I feel for him having tore everything apart like I'm mad man to realize that it was his mistake that caused all that I've done that oh so many times on vehicles over the years lots of fun though we get to take the memories with us nothing else it's good to put a chuckle on your face once in awhile.
My 2.5 runs great and I put the laser thermometer on it to tell me if its hot then when it starts to bubble I realize I never saw the water coolant Flow by in the radiator with the cap off that should have been a sign. Thanks for all the info, enjoy yourself Jeeps.
