4 speed auto, or 5 speed manual? Im leaning towards the manual myself, but have never done any wheeling in anything other then auto.
Already have a ford 9" rear, and a dana 44 front, both getting disk breaks and detroit lockers soon.

PITA turned out great. As for the next one I'd suggest a 4 door, Automatic. It'll be a lot easier to find a decent example for a cheap price, and you won't have to worry about any tranny replacement issues in the future. JMO

i vote for a 2 door 5 speed i love mine. its not hard to wheel it either and you can also get a beter jump in the mud with a manual cuz you can work the clutch. jmho. but either way you getting a jeep so it gonna be good. haha

I vote 4 door auto.. better tranny, easier to get in an out of. If you want something different for fun.. stay auto and go with the 2 door.. imo

well since everyone is saying auto. ill put it this way if you mud a manual is better for a few reasons, ex. if you are going through a deeper part of the hole you can use the clutch to get a harder hole shot, if you are stuck you can go straight from first to reverse easier and faster to rock the truck back and forth, and finally if you have a good enough motor and this is for trails with big mud holes to, if you are stuck but your tires will still spin you can leave it at a higher rpm idle than an automatic and get your winch/ towstraps. jmho.

NO MORE MUD! I spun a bearing on this trip. It was bad luck from the start. Luckily it only happened about 5 minutes from the house.

You already have a D44 and a 9 inch waiting and your tough decision is about doors and transmissions. Man I'm glad I don't have that kind of pressure to deal with.
J/k, if you don't get one of the MJs then go with a 4 door at least. It has increased body strength over a 2 door due to the extra body pillar. I would also try to get my hands on a 96, the body looks the same as earlier models but Chrysler added some extra braces to stiffen the chassis a little more.
