Default 1999 XJ Driver Side Running Brake Light Not Working

So, the driver side running tail light, AND the driver side orange running light, are not working.

Brake light works when I hit the brake, its just the running lights not working on that side.

When I jumped the passenger brake light over to the driver side, it works. So I know its not the bulb socket, at least I assume that is what that means.

Is this a common issue? If so, what are the places I should be looking at in order to see if I can fix it? So I don't have to start tearing out interior panels trying to find a bad wire.

It does ok with the jump wire I ran to the other side, but I would like to fix this the proper way to avoid future issues.

Thanks for any help!

Driver side tail light running lamp (the red light that stays on when lights are on at night), and the front side marker. Correct.

Where is that connector? Underneath the dash?

yes.
Remove the kick panel (couple screws) look under dash you'll see the switch / connector.

They melt all the time. H4 headlight harness upgrade takes all the stress off the switch & connector.

But would that really cause just one side of the running lights to not work? Looking at the switch schematics, it seems that just one plug runs all the running lights.
