The electric fans stay on sometimes after the ignition is shut off. I have to turn the key to accessory and off again to stop the fans. The engine runs at 210 degrees with the a/c on all the time and in traffic. Thinking about switching to a 160 or a 180 t-stat. Jeep has 165K on the odometer and has a new HD radiator & a new water pump. I live in South Florida so its always warm here. I would like it to run a little cooler. I also never shut off the a/c. I do start the engine with the a/c on. Any opinions?

My understanding is that the electric cooling fan will turn on any time the A/C compressor is engaged. Under normal A/C operation, the compressor is not engaged constantly, it engages intermittantly, though at somewhat regular intervals. This means the electric fan is turning on intermittantly as well. Occasionally you will turn off the ignition while the A/C and electric fan are engaged and operating. This could be the reason why the fan will stay on occasionally. If you never shut off the A/C, the electric fan is getting a lot of use, and therefore may need replacing sooner than later, but it sounds to me as though it's currently performing as intended.
