Hello All from Sunny Scotland!! (this is a joke - it very rarely shines in Scotland - rains a lot!!)
I parked my jeep up but did not notice that two of the interior lights stayed on - by the time I did notice, the battery was flat! recharged the battery, vehicle will not start, engine turns over but will not fire, just had a look at it and it is not sparking at the plugs?
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated - thank you for reading this
Cheers

have you checked if the fuel pump is running they sometimes lock up after sitting for awhile .
thank you for that .dissconected the fuel line where it joins the injector gallery and yes i have fuel .being a newbie and an oldie means my grasp of posting is slight . i thought i had posted more symptoms but maybe not.i have had the Jeep for about five years and it has been an on and off restoration project all this time ,run out of time and or money, leave it for a bit and go back to it later. Scotland is wet mostly so one of my worries is that the electrics have deteriorated because of sitting for so long .as the engine turns but won't fire could it be an immobiliser issue ?

How long has it sat since it last ran?
Does a 98 have an immobilizer? I didn't have one on my 2000 TJ, but I knew a guy who got an 02 or 03 that had it.
When you say you're not getting spark, are you literally not getting spark - you've pulled the plugs and tested them?
It's pretty wet here in the northeast U.S. too - it's been raining non-stop for the last 3 days and is expected to rain all week - should be fun taking the kids out for Halloween in a couple days.

It last ran about three days ago, I am assuming that the wee red light on the centre roof console is an immobilizer/warning light - maybe a European thing?
Yes I am literally not getting a spark and yes I have pulled the plugs and tested them - nothing!
The thing that I find strange is that it has always started first time, no matter the weather or how long it has stood - this is what I do not understand!!
I think we had sunshine today but not really too sure what it looks like anymore - good luck with Halloween - take umbrellas!!

It's possible it's some sort of immobilizer device. It could even be an aftermarket sort of thing. Originally Posted by druideleven

Check Cruiser54.com -> Technical Manuals for the Factory Service Manual and see if it goes into any sort of ignition immobilizer. If it's standard equipment (even if it's for the Euro model) it will be mentioned in the FSM.
Thank you very much for this information - we have been having internet problems all day and so far I have not had chance to check the information you sent, once I do I will be back in touch - thanks again
