1998 xj 4.0 water pump

So tomorrow i have to replace a water pump on my brother-in-laws 98 xj. Problem, its in his garage, with his tools,and ive yet to replace one on a jeep, can i get a little short-cut advice here, dont want to un-necc take stuff of, or apart that i dont need to, just lookn for a straight shot!! Thnx

Hi Dan,

I joined this forum last week.

Any tips from you all would be very appreciated. You guys have all been great here.

I did an advanced search on "water pump" in just the titles of the posts and got a lot of good info.

Watching "Old School" while I look for tips for a Water Pump replacement

I came across this water pump write up the other day. It's for a TJ (wrangler) with the same 4.0 engine, so I would imagine that the procedure is 99% the same for our XJ's. Good luck!
