1998 jeep cherokee faulty
hello,i have a 1998 jeep Cherokee sport with 193000 miles.this one has a 6 cylinder in line.4.0L automatic.the problem is that at after stop and go(like when after a traffic light or at stop sigh,or coming out a parking lot into the road) ,the jeep lose power (like rpm down)and if I hit the fuel pedal it get worst and it does a hard cut turn off,it does not shake, just a Clam, clam sound and goes off .But if i do not apply gas pedal and wait few seconds then i can hit the gas and it is fine.this do not happen while driving, car runs fine in the street or highway.just happen after a stop and go. any idea please....thanks

1. If any check engine light, you must pull codes for guidance.
2. Always review tuneup hardware status when symptomatic. That includes plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, rotor. Failure to do this can result in the chasing of your tail.
3. Verify fuel pressure. For a 98, you should have 49 psi, plus or minus 5 psi. Must be verified with a gauge; no shortcuts. You can rent a fuel pressure gauge from many parts stores; call around.
