I am posting for a friend.
He has a 1997 Cherokee sport.
Right after he got it the jeep overheated and him and his dad replaced the radiator, thermostat and coolant in it and it was all fixed
.
Exactly a year later it Overheated again
. They replaced all the same things as well as the water pump this time(the radiator was plastic this time) and it has ran great.
The Jeep has now done it again, Exactly a year later.
This time the radiator was replaced with a metal one instead of plastic!
He would like to know what might be casing this to happen at a yearly interval!!! And what he might do to fix it or diagnose the problem.
Any advise is greatly appreciated.

I don't see any real relationship to an annual failure of any hardware like a radiator except to bad luck or inferior radiators.
We would need to have more details as to exactly what part of the radiator is failing. Did he "inspect" the radiator to figure out root cause. Was it leaking from a "seam"? (that is a popular place for radiators with plastic to fail)
Where is he buying the radiators from? Best to stay away from the $69 specials. I have had better luck with all metal radiators as the plastic ones seem to fail in the seam areas prematurely. Hopefully your friend will be set now.

the radiator is not failing. The jeep is overheating every year.
they have been trying to figure out why.
Would a faulty head gasket cause this??
