has anyone who owns a 96 cherokee actually ordered this part and can comfirm that it actually works?? conformation on this would be much appreciated. i have one that works but the part of the sending unit that mounts on the side of the tank leaks so i can't fill my tank past 3/4 for the time being

 

My only feasible recourse was to go to a JY and get a unit from there. It as $24 at the pick and pull.

A new rubber seal can be a bear as it likes to move around while you put in the pump and it isnt flattened like the old one. In the end I had to use a few dabs of RTV and hold it there for a few minutes to get it to stay in place long enough to maneuver the pump and sending unit back in and get the locking ring in place.

 

I bought a 96 sending unit from ebay... And a carter pump from rockauto... Wrapped it up nice... Put it in my parts closet... In the future the 96 sending unit will become more and more scarce... So i wanted one for that dreadful day it pukes
