1996 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0L 4x4 Front Suspension
Hello,
I am having a noise come from my passenger front tire whenever I turn left. It sounds like a grinding sound or my tire rubbing. I took it to a local shop who told me I need new Link Pins, steering stablizer bar because it is leaking, front shocks because they are leaking, a track bar, and upper and lower ball joints. The shop also since they ****think***** I might need my front differential rebuilt, at an "estimate of $750-$1000 in addition to the $825 for the other parts & labor. I asked my friend, who has done all the work on my Cherokee since I bought it in 2007, and he thinks it is just a U-joint. I then took it to another shop which told me I needed the above parts as well, but were not sure on the differential. Is there a way to check to see if the front differential needs rebuilt? If it does, how much should I expect to pay? Are there alternatives? I am not much of a car guy, I just don't want to drop $2,000+ on this when that would be a nice down payment on a new Jeep! Thanks for any help!
