hey i have a bad head on my 96 4.0 high output and looking to swap it with my 89 head 4.0 does the high output have anything to do with the head or is that jut the exhaust manifold and the air intake?

C. All the above.

You can use the 91-95 7120 Head, some internet lore about it being the best flowing 4.0 head.

It does to an extent. The HO only had 8 more horsepower than the Renix. Cam is identical. The horsepower was all gained at the top end of the RPM range. Torque is the same. HO head had improved intake ports, but that wasn't all of it. They had a better flowing exhaust maniflold and a 58mm throttle body vs a 52mm like on a Renix. Would I kill myself for an HO head when I had a Renix laying around? No. You can use your 89 head as long as you use an intake/exhaust gasket for an HO.

all im replacing is the head along with the lifters etc. its just my 96's head is bad. so the head from the 89 will fit if its the only thing i'm exchanging right? I already have the head out of the 89 will just the head bolt on because i just want to be clear that thats the only thing im taking. Just the head thats it. haha
