Default 1995 XJ Country Package question

Hi there.
A lot of time I don't read something about XJs.
I am interested in buying a 1995 Country package. It was used for... I don't know how to name him... A pretty neglected human being with cars in general. I could buy the truck for about $800.00 USD.
It has about 156k miles on it and it has a compression problem (cylinder 3 and 4 not working properly)

A detail that I had never seen in XJ's ins this kind of overhead module and I don't know what is used for. Any of you guys can help me with this?
I attach a picture of the module itself
Thanks for your help and warm regards from Mexico

As mentioned above its the IR reciever for the keyless entry system. If you dont have the remote from the previous owner you can find them on ebay for between 100 and 200 dollars.

Its not nearly as effective as the later radio frequency units but is still neat to have working. Mine works and i scored a remote for pretty cheap right after i bought it

Thank you very much for your help!
Could be exactly like this one?

I will talk with the previous owner to get the fob next week. I hope he has it. Wish me luck!

Yup that's it. Ignore that free programming crap. You program that remote yourself in the jeep. There's a procedure in the manual.
