Default 1995 Cherokee hitch fit a 2000?

Hey guys, I have a guy offering to sell me a class 3 hitch that came off his 1995 Cherokee, I was wondering if it fits a 2000 Cherokee or not? Thanks!

Should, any hitch from an 89-01 should be interchangeable

Yup. I put a hitch from a '91 on my '00. Its a direct bolt on. If your xj didn't originally come with the tote tow package then you probably need the nut strips on the drivers side that slip in to the unibody.

Alright sweet, yeah he is selling it to me for $40 but it doesn't come with the nut strips or bolts. I assume that's gonna be a problem. I know to get the 8 1/2 Bolts with washers, is that all I would really need? Or nut strips make it easier?

You are going to need the nut strips, you really can't get anything else in there

What do you mean by "8 1/2 bolts" are you referring to the grade? Cuz you shouldn't be using anything lower than grave 10.9 bolts, its what came on the hitch from the factory. I cant remember off the top of my head but its a metric bolt.

The JCR nut strips use 1/2" bolts but oem nut strips are metric. You can get the oem nut strip from a dealer for around $40. The JCR kit comes with both strips for about the same price I believe.

Yeah I meant the grade. I did look into the nut strips and rather than go through the headache of figuring out if its worth it or not (the hitch was bent alittle) I figured I'd invest in a new one.

Thanks for the heads up on the JCR stuff.
