Not long ago this part was easy to find for sale at wrecking yards via ebay.
Not any more.
You can easily find this part for Grand Cherokees but not for the 4 door XJ...driver's front door.
It looks like I am forced to buy an entire door...or an entire "parts car"...or else try to adapt a door latch from a Grand Cherokee...?
Surely someone has figured out a "work around"...?

 

Maybe try a search on "car-part.com" kind of a clearing house of wrecking/junk yards and the parts they have/will harvest. I just got shocked as I was replacing the AC system on my 96 XJ and found that two of the four hoses/lines are not made anymore. So I will be making a 5-6 hour RT drive to a yard that has a pretty mint 96 to pull those parts and more! Anyway, good luck to you on finding your parts.

A place where I am seeing a lot of Cherokees being parted out is at the FB marketplace.
what sucks for XJ lovers is that the Grand Cherokee is completely different. It was good for Chrysler but bad for used parts scroungers.

 

A note on car-part.com: often small parts don't get listed because it's a fair bit of work to fully inventory cars. When I did car-part inventory I'd often just inventory the big parts (doors, motor, trans, axles, badges, etc.) so if you can't find a latch try searching for driver door just to see what 4 door XJs are out there then start calling.
