Has anyone else ever broke a door latch, because im not sure where to get the part, and how difficult it will be to install, when i took the panel off the door it seemed hard to get to. any imput would be appreciated

 

If your talking about the actual latch mechanisim inside the door that is going to most likely be a dealer only part or you can grab one at the junkyard. IF you broke the part that mounts on the door frame on the body you can probably get that from Dorman at your local parts store.

 

yeah the actual part inside the door. well looks like im off to the dealer

 

they are hard to change on all vehicles.

 

how did you break it? it didnt separate itself from the door did it? a friend of mine did that one, door hinges were shot and it wasnt hitting in the right spot. got a real good slam one day and it ripped off the door

 

Weld it close and go duke style. Jk. Junkyard will be a lot cheaper than dealer prices

 

I did this exact thing. I knew the top door hinge was going. I bought a new hinge online, and while I was waiting for the hinge to arrive (took forever!) the door had one good slam and ripped the door latch bolts through from the door. Any tips?

I am dreading trying to buy a door. I am leaning toward the welding option.
