1993 Sport
Hello. I am in need of some assistance. i just got a 93 sport 2wd for my son for his first vehicle. It ran fine when we got it but had a oil leak in the rear main seal and a transmission leak. I pulled the tranny and replaced the seals, replaced the rear main seals, replaced the oil pump, water pump, thermostat and housing and a new starter. Now the Jeep will start fine but less than a minute it tries to die. It will correct itself and run for about a minute and the tries to die again. I cleaned the idle air valve but ddint help. Could someone point me in the right direction.
Im wanting to say its flooding itself out. It spit and sputter for around 20 seconds then idle good for about 30 secs. i checked the codes and it points to 21,22,23 too high or too low voltage to temp sensors

I would say replace the temp sensors. The computer uses that sensor to help determine air/fuel ratio along with o2 sensors. When the engine is cold it is in open loop pretty much dumping gas in your engine as it warms up it will adjust its self accordingly releasing less and less fuel untell it gets to running temp. If it is staying in open loop as it gets warm, you will be getting way to much fuel and not enough air to compensate the ratio. This is probably your reason for the flooding of your engine. Good luck
Get a meter and test the temp sensor before buying a new one. They're very simple sensors and can be checked by measuring their resistance when cold and when hot. Have a look at the other sensors and wiring you would have disturbed when pulling the transmission. In particular the O2 sensor and crankshaft sensor which is easy to damage if you didn't remove and get out of harms way prior to pulling the trans.

I agree with what the other guys are saying. Check the CTS, CPS, O2 sensor and Cam sensor (the one on the distributor).
Likely just a buggered up wire/connection, but on a 26 year old Jeep, it wouldn't be unreasonable for one or more to have failed. Just the jostling around of the sensors as the exhaust and tranny are being disconnected/reconnected could have pushed them over the edge to a component failure.

Also there's the fuel pressure regulator at the fuel rail. I just had replaced the vacuum line on that guy myself since it cracked in a couple places and had a heck of a time finding the OEM part. I ended up getting a 23 year old but still in the package part on ebay and it was obnoxiously expensive.

Did you TEST anything? Or are you just going to fire the parts cannon until its fixed. If that's your plan, save some trouble. Go back through the thread, buy everything that's been mentioned, and replace it all.
Or you could try testing.....
