I have had to repair the wiring harness under the driver's feet. I still have a short when passenger's front door tries to lock doors. Windows work fine at all doors. Switch for lock works at driver's door.

Also, I have two red wires on the harness which goes backward along the driver's side that are disconnected and I don't know where they go. This is something separate.

The previous owner was a mechanic and did shenanigans with the wiring for multiple things. What are the red wires for and does someone have an idea what would cause the short like it is?

 

I have continuity to ground and power in wires coming from the fuse panel on the driver's side to a grey connector. Does anyone know how to find the wiring pin-out for this connector? The sticky about just bought a cherokee and buy a factory service manual link does not have this year of model.

 

What are the two red wires that are exposed on the left side of the image? They go rearward thru the tube of wires on the driver's side of the vehicle. The red wire with the alligator clip goes upward from there and connects to the fuse block. The previous owner had these three wires soldered together. I don't believe that that is correct. He had lost the power to the mirrors and a bunch of other electrical problems with locks and windows because of frayed wires underneath the floormat. He just cut wires and attached them to power. He rigged the fog lights to only work when the brights were on. I can't trust anything electric that I believe him to have touched. I have looked at junk yards, but haven't found a commonality. A similar Cherokee at Pull-a-Part had a red wire which led to a bundle that diverted under the floormat under the backseat that then went forward in the vehicle following the driver's side of the console.
