Question 1992 jeep cherokee

I have 1992 jeep cherokee 4.0L auto 4wd that jerks and sputters like power shutting off or something, put new rotor in, cap, wires , and plugs, o2 sensor also, can my problem be the catalytic convertor. It is getting gas also so those arent my problem.

dont think is the cat, you can check by hitting it, to see if something is loose there or go have it scan at the local parts store,, many do that for free

and welcome to CF

Check the fuel pressure at the rail. If it is below par then you may have a fuel pump trying to die on you. There is a fuel pump relay on the right inner fender well and it could be loose as well. But it sounds like you have intermitten fuel pressure from some source.

I very well could be sir...

My Waggie has never had a problem starting. But it used to have this problem. Sputtereing acting funny like bad fuel or TPS problems. This was all solved once i did the whole unplug and replug trick.

CPS and cause all kinds of weird problems.

I am curious when you put this new motor in was it a used motor or a remanufactured motor? Also did you have to reinstall the distributor? Reason I ask is if the distrib isn't installed correctly your timing will be off and could cause it to run weird..
