Default 1992 Cherokee electrical draw

I'm working on a 1992 Cherokee and I have a draw at the 40amp fuse for the inside fuse box. I took all of the fuses under the dash out and I still have a draw, The radio is unplugged. Does anybody know of an unfused wire from the inside fuse box that could be my problem Thanks.

40 amp is gonna be a big item whats the fuse panel say where fuse is ? Unplug head lights switch or ignition switch yet ? Maybe ignition switch not shutting off all way.

The 40 amp fuse powers the under dash fuse panel. Even with all of the fuses removed at the under dash fuse panel I still have a 5 amp draw.

Where ya get that info ? Everything I find does not show a 40 amp in pdc for fuse box. Ignition,Rear defrost,Headlights and Abs only. One way would be to remove the 40 see if theres still power in the fuse panel.

The 40 amp fuse is in the fuse box under the hood on the right inner fender. When I remove it the fuse panel under the dash has no juice and the draw goes away.

5 amps is a pretty hefty draw for something that shouldn't be there!

Have you checked for lights on somewhere where they should not be? That much draw should give some sign somewhere. Heat or light where it's not expected.

You've established that your 40 amp fuse feeds the fuse box, but it might (probably does) feed something else.

Your best bet is to find the FSM (Field Service Manual) for your year online, and then see what else is fed by that fuse.

Exactly ..i cant find any info on a1992 wiring . Try disconnecting main cable to alt. see if draw goes away in 93 f8 and f16 splice together .
