I just bought a 1991 jeep Cherokee, brought it home and while it was i doling in the driveway it started acting like it was gonna die. Went to move it and it died but started right up again. It did the same thing later. Also was driving it down the road the other night and the headlights went dim and the heater cut out for a sec. Could this be that the fuel injectors or the iac needs to be cleaned? Or do you think it could be something else? Hopefully it isn't sonething to serious?

That points to an intermittent electrical problem and older XJ's tend to accumulate them. Since this is a new-to-you XJ, the first thing to do is to clean and shine all the ground points, battery, engine, chassis, etc.
Also take a peek at the ignition switch connector along the steering column, they are notorious for running hot and sometimes melting.
Certainly no harm in cleaning the IAC, that may be part of the stalling issue as well.

If you can get your Jeep to a local parts store, have them test the electrical system. It's free and it will tell you if you have a bad battery, alternator or voltage regulator.

Good advice. Start with this. It sounds electrical.
