Default 1990 instrument panel

Hi all, I have a 1990 Cherokee that has the base insturment panel and I would like to up-grade it to a full instrument ( tach, oil pressure, volt, water temp, trip, ) panel. Will it plug and play or will it require re-wireing the whole thing? Also, would removing the front drive shaft free up a couple more miles to the gallon of gas?

heres a really good site you do have to change a couple sending units on the motor but the following page will tell you what you need

Removing the driveshaft will free up maybe 0.002 hp IMHO. Not worth the time nor effort. As to increased MPG I think that will be as insignificant as the hp gains.
