Rent a real good press, also make sure the press is for a 4x4 cause if no there is cups that you'll need that will be missing...

Remove caliper, rotor, and axle...remove upper and lower ball joint nuts and tie rod end. Use a BFH to seperate knuckle from ball joints. Remove snap rings and whack out ball joints. Use press then reverse procedure...

Uhh there's no telling how many trips. I wheeled my tj EVERY weekend in mud and my ball joints never gave out in 60k miles.

When re-installing the ball joints, make sure that it's getting seated STRAIGHT and not crooked. I saw this happen to a buddy of mine and it wallowed out the hole and basically ruined the axle. They gotta go in straight, especially the upper cuz the surface is slightly at an angle and the press isn't angled for it.
